A 38-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after Texas Child Protective Services contacted Midland police about possible child abuse, according to court documents.

Blanca Vega was being held in Midland County Jail for injury to a child, elderly or disabled individual with intention of bodily injury, a third-degree felony charge. She was released on a $25,000 bond.

Detectives with the Midland Police Department were contacted Wednesday by CPS in reference to possible child abuse. CPS told detectives that a 7-year-old child had a "marking on his face" and stated Vega had hit him on the face with a cord.

During an interview with the Child Advocacy Center, the child disclosed that Vega hit him with a cable on the face "because he stole $100 from her," according to the arrest affidavit. He also stated he had similar markings on his leg.

Vega was interviewed by detectives and was shown pictures of the child's injuries. She admitted to hitting him with a cord, according to the arrest affidavit.
