Redditor u/Coffeechipmunk told Bored Panda that some of the worst cases of tech gore that they’ve seen include devices "with bugs in it" which they think are "the worst." Among the top worst cases is also "the guy who got a laptop full of milk."

Meanwhile, the reason for the subreddit's continued success is just how fun it is. "In a time where most of the internet can be incredibly serious and most times saddening or angering, r/techsupportgore is fun because you go on it and you can laugh (and/or cringe) at the crazy posts. Where else can you see a post like, ‘Wow, these cables really are messy’ to, ‘A lizard fried my motherboard’ back to back? I love our growing community. They're a bunch of people that just enjoy tech and to some extent, the worst of it," the moderator said.

Some laptops are notorious for this. My old Sony Vaio had a dreadful radiator design that meant it had to be cleaned out a couple of times a year. I've also had a powering off issue with a new laptop which due to a BIOS update started getting false readings from the CPU thermal monitors and shut itself down without warning at various times of day.

A month later they call me as it is not working. Sure enough the insides are covered in dust and fluff. I clean it out and set up up in a more open area. They got my side of the story and went back to the client saying that I advised that this could be an issue and you chose to ignore said advise so too bad.

There are times when I wonder if I might have preferred working in tech support.....then I see posts like these and am immediately cured of that foolish notion.

80% of the time, its either an ID-10-T error, or an issue between the screen and the chair."Have you tried turning it off and on again", continues to be funny because it works so much of the time.Being in this industry for about 3 decades now, I continue to be appalled at the fact that so many folks who have been using computers almost as long, are still so totally ignorant of even the basics.

And that's just the hardware issues. Software issues are even worse.

What's even worse is being a competent technical person and still needing to sit through the 7 levels of telephone tech support hell before getting to someone who can do anything with my highly detailed information on a specific issue.

When I had EarthLink DSL, their tier one tech support just read scripts. So, I wrote my own with all the answers.
